Xavier Mendes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexandre Severo in the 7th minute of the match. Cassiano Guerra hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulo Domingues in the 13th minute of play forced benfica's goalkeeper Viriato Prates to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Cavadas FC's Xavier Mendes got control of the ball when Cassiano Guerra tried to sneak it across the goal line. 16 minutes into the game, benfica's Adérito Carvalho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Xavier Mendes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. The supporters of Cavadas FC booed when benfica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Enzo Távora didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alexandre Severo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Xavier Mendes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lázaro Freitas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Xavier Mendes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. In the 25th minute Paulo Domingues shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Viriato Prates saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cassiano Guerra came free with the goalkeeper in the 28th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Xavier Mendes could save by the left post. Viriato Prates took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bruno Leiria, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. benfica's Viriato Prates played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulo Domingues in the 35th minute of play. When Alexandre Severo came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the benfica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alexandre Severo couldn't finish the play. Cassiano Guerra's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Xavier Mendes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. Cavadas FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 40th minute, when Lázaro Freitas scored to the left of an out of position Xavier Mendes, making the score, 2-0. In the 43rdth minute of the game Alexandre Severo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cavadas FC's Xavier Mendes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Xavier Mendes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alexandre Severo's shot from short distance in the 46th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Miguel Maia made the kick off in the second half. When Paulo Domingues came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Cavadas FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paulo Domingues couldn't finish the play. Adérito Carvalho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Xavier Mendes having to interfere. Alexandre Severo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Alexandre Severo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Xavier Mendes didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lázaro Freitas went, in the 61st minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. Cassiano Guerra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Xavier Mendes having to interfere. Alexandre Severo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Xavier Mendes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 71 played minutes Cavadas FC got a freekick which was hit by Tomás Marques. In the 86th minute, Lázaro Freitas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. benfica's Cassiano Guerra got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 92 minutes, Albertino Calçada managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. benfica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Albertino Calçada was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cavadas FC's Xavier Mendes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cassiano Guerra in the 96th minute of play. When the referee ended the match the benfica players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
