Adelino Aleixo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Miguel Lopes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rui Castro to make the kick off. Adelino Aleixos short, quick shot in the 59thth minute got Miguel Lopes to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. When Rui Castro came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Cancelo FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rui Castro couldn't finish the play. The SC Gandrachao fans cheered their team off the field, for while Cancelo FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
