Jorge Araújo came out of the goal and Vivaldo Noronha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jesualdo Garcez in the 14thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Jorge Araújo, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. With a little luck, Cerzedelo's Jorge Araújo got control of the ball when Márcio Graça tried to sneak it across the goal line. Afonso Pinto hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Jesualdo Garcezs short, quick shot in the 29thth minute got Jorge Araújo to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After having played for 36 minutes, Jesualdo Garcez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Benfica de Belas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jesualdo Garcez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Humberto Sobral got free with Jorge Araújo in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 39 played minutes Cerzedelo got a freekick which was hit by Gil Lima. Jacob Tavares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Afonso Pinto, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Márcio Graça in the 43rd minute of play forced Cerzedelo's goalkeeper Jorge Araújo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 44 minutes into the match, Cerzedelo's goal looked a bit too open when Márcio Graça came free, but Jorge Araújo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. During the 45th minute of the match Gil Lima completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Gil Lima a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of Benfica de Belas booed when Cerzedelo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gil Lima didn't get a good kick on the ball.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jesualdo Garcez stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
