The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rdth minute of the game Duarte Gouveia who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Matelinho's Vicente Oliveira was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Vicente Oliveira didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Duarte Gouveia went, in the 5th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Adolfo Moniz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 12 minutes of play, Portugal Gold Academy's Viriato Pestana made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Vicente Oliveira was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Viriato Pestana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Humberto Porto hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. A collision led to Portugal Gold Academy getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Tomás Barros hit a great ball. 26 minutes into the game, Portugal Gold Academy's Viriato Pestana nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Vicente Oliveira made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. If Viriato Pestana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. Vicente Oliveira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Duarte Gouveia came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Portugal Gold Academy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Duarte Gouveia couldn't finish the play. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Armando Jesus to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Sabino Santiago fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Vicente Oliveira, passed just outside the right post. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Adolfo Moniz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mauro Vilaverde made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Viriato Pestana made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 80thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Vicente Oliveira would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. The audience was convinced that Viriato Pestana's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vicente Oliveira was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game. After 83 played minutes Matelinho got a freekick which was hit by David Cardoso. Vicente Oliveira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Duarte Gouveia in the 88th minute of the match. Viriato Pestana could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Vicente Oliveira made a huge save.
