Nuno Sampaio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ricardo Maia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Juvenal Ruas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Humberto Onofre received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Vítor Moura tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 13th minute of the match, Carlos Manso tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Vítor Moura saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After some careless play in the Scarrone FC defense, Jorge Matos kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nuno Sampaio. The Scarrone FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nuno Sampaio should have stopped the shot. After 19 played minutes Scarrone FC got a freekick which was hit by Nivaldo Chagas. In the 21st minute of the match, Carlos Manso tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Vítor Moura saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Scarrone FC's Nuno Sampaio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eusébio Oliveira in the 23rd minute of play. Nuno Sampaio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ricardo Maia in the 25th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Carlos Manso managed to get in a good position for a shot. Scarrone FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Carlos Manso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vítor Moura breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Pecene's Ricardo Maia in the 31st minute got a chance for a shot 31st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Scarrone FC's goalie prevented a goal. 33 minutes into the match, Eusébio Oliveira had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nuno Sampaio. Scarrone FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eusébio Oliveira was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. In the 38th minute Ricardo Maia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nuno Sampaio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Juvenal Ruas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Pecene were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The audience was convinced that Carlos Manso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vítor Moura was relentless in the 57th minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Pecene's Cristóvão Luz got a free kick in the 59th minute. Vítor Moura made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Geraldo Sacadura in the 60th minute of play. Nuno Sampaio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ricardo Maia, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Juvenal Ruas struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Vítor Moura didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Scarrone FC. In the 68th minute, Scarrone FC's Manuel Macedo seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Manuel Macedo the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Scarrone FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Manuel Macedo had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 68th minute of the game. One of Scarrone FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Pecene:s goal. In the 71st minute there was a penalty for Pecene. Artur Figueiredo stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Nuno Sampaio. 0-3. A collision led to Pecene getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Eusébio Oliveira hit a great ball. Avelino Camargo kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. In the 77th minute of the match Artur Figueiredo shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nuno Sampaio showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The Scarrone FC manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Pecene to win.
