The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Silvano Simões in the 2nd minute of play forced Pamarao's goalkeeper Alexandre Queirós to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alexandre Queirós stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sálvio Palha's shot from short distance in the 4th minute. 5 minutes had been played when some careless play by Pamarao's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Amado Macena was slow to take the kick. During this time Aveiro FC's players had a chance to rest. The supporters of Pamarao booed when Aveiro FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fernando Rijo didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sálvio Palha in the 26th minute of play forced Pamarao's goalkeeper Alexandre Queirós to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 29 minutes into the match, Aveiro FC's goalkeeper Gil Gouveia had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marco Ferreira. If Silvano Simões had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 33 minutes into the match, Pamarao's goal looked a bit too open when Silvano Simões came free, but Alexandre Queirós reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 61st minute Marco Ferreira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gil Gouveia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alexandre Queirós showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Silvano Simões, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. After having played for 69 minutes, Sálvio Palha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Aveiro FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sálvio Palha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Silvano Simões received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Alexandre Queirós tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 73 minutes into the match, Pamarao's goalkeeper Alexandre Queirós had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sálvio Palha.
