Amadeu Viegas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Bernardo Pinto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Amílcar Faro kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. Vítor Martins's late challenge caught a Sambado FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vítor Martins helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Setubal FC's Vítor Martins got a free kick in the 18th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Amílcar Faro during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Amílcar Faro hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Vasco Fonseca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. João Cardoso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. João Cardoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vasco Fonseca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Sambado FC's zone, Vítor Martins stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bernardo Pinto came out of the goal and Vítor Martins tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Sambado FC's Bernardo Pinto got control of the ball when Vítor Martins tried to sneak it across the goal line. Bernardo Pinto came out of the goal in the 33rd minute to try and stop a shot by Setubal FC's Vítor Martins. But to his dismay, Vítor Martins quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Carlos Vieira kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Joel Aleixo, 39 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After 40 minutes, Carlos Vieira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sambado FC and the Setubal FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 42nd minute, Amadeu Viegas fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Vítor Martins's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Bernardo Pinto firmly grabbed it by the left post. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When Simão Branco fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Setubal FC's protests and gave Simão Branco a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Setubal FC getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Simão Branco hit a great ball. Nuno Santarém charged in rather forcefully in the 57th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nuno Santarém the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After recieving a nice pass, Setubal FC's Joel Aleixo tried to score from far away in the 58th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Amadeu Viegas in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bernardo Pinto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. João Cardoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vasco Fonseca in the 62nd minute of play. A collision led to Sambado FC getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Vítor Moniz hit a great ball. In the 70th minute of the match Setubal FC got a corner. Sambado FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Aleixo ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Setubal FC's Joel Aleixo to fire away a dangerous shot which Bernardo Pinto despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Vasco Fonseca scored 1-1 in the 74th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of João Cardoso, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 77th minute Vítor Martins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bernardo Pinto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 79 minutes, Vítor Martins managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Setubal FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vítor Martins was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. João Cardoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vasco Fonseca in the 82nd minute of play. After 88 minutes of play, Setubal FC's Vítor Martins made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Bernardo Pinto was left in no man's land by his defense there! 91 minutes into the match, Sambado FC's goal looked a bit too open when Amadeu Viegas came free, but Bernardo Pinto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vítor Martins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bernardo Pinto having to interfere. Amadeu Viegas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 97th minute, Carlos Gaspar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the Sambado FC defense, Vítor Martins kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Bernardo Pinto. The Sambado FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bernardo Pinto should have stopped the shot. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Setubal FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Sambado FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
