Mariano Pacheco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Rui Macedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 7 minutes into the game, Alfredo Luz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Picada's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Abiul FC the free kick. After 8 played minutes Picada got a freekick which was hit by Alfredo Luz. When Abiul FC's Alexandre Santarém in the 11th minute got a chance for a shot 11th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Picada's goalie prevented a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when José Fernandes got free with Armando Antunes in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Armando Antunes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Filipe Matias in the 17th minute of the match. Filipe Matias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Armando Antunes having to interfere. The supporters of Picada booed when Abiul FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Humberto Porto didn't get a good kick on the ball. 29 minutes into the game, João Vaz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Abiul FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Picada the free kick. In the 30th match minute, Abiul FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Vaz to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Picada's Carlos Jesus got a free kick in the 31st minute. When Alexandre Santarém came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Abiul FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alexandre Santarém couldn't finish the play. If Mariano Pacheco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexandre Santarém in the 45th minute of play forced Picada's goalkeeper Rui Macedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alexandre Santarém was the one to do the kick off. José Fernandes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Armando Antunes having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, José Fernandes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Picada's supporters rose to their feet, but José Fernandes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Armando Antunes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Abiul FC getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Humberto Porto hit a great ball. After recieving a nice pass, Picada's Rafael Fonseca tried to score from far away in the 59th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling José Fernandes in the 61st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Armando Antunes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Alexandre Santarém's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rui Macedo was relentless in the 64th minute of the game. José Fernandes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Picada booed when Abiul FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joaquim Henriques didn't get a good kick on the ball. Picada's Rui Macedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexandre Santarém in the 74th minute of play. The supporters of Picada booed when Abiul FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Vaz didn't get a good kick on the ball. José Fernandes struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Armando Antunes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Picada. Humberto Porto was shown his second yellow card after 77 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Humberto Porto kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Fernandes in the 80th minute of play forced Abiul FC's goalkeeper Armando Antunes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. José Fernandes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Armando Antunes having to interfere. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
