The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Nsofor Akparanta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A hard shot 7 in the game by Solomon Aiyetan from a close distance when the talented Dauda Sofoluwe managed to make a qualified save. Wigston City's players were relieved. Penalty! 13 minutes into the match, Yatton's goal looked a bit too open when Nsofor Akparanta came free, but Ejike Ohenhen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 20 minutes into the match, Wigston City's Nsofor Akparanta sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ejike Ohenhen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 22ndth minute of the game Jolaoya Aga who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Wigston City's Dauda Sofoluwe was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Abdulsalami Orumah came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Wigston City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Abdulsalami Orumah couldn't finish the play. Nsofor Ya Afar's late challenge caught a Wigston City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nsofor Ya Afar helped the player get up and apologised. Nsofor Ya Afar hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Ejike Ohenhen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nsofor Akparanta's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. A collision led to Wigston City getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Yau Ilo hit a great ball. After 48 minutes, Abdulsalami Orumah mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Wigston City and the Yatton players grew even worse after the yellow card. If Iho Ikpeba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 49th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ahijah Amana might have been able to make a better finish in the 50th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dauda Sofoluwe. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ahijah Amana ran back to his position shaking his head. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jolaoya Aga to make the kick off. Dauda Sofoluwe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Solomon Aiyetan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Solomon Aiyetan came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Yatton fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Solomon Aiyetan couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Yatton booed when Wigston City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Odinakachi Onigbanjo didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Nsofor Akparanta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wigston City's Abdulsalami Orumah got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Abdulsalami Orumah might have been able to make a better finish in the 81st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ejike Ohenhen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Abdulsalami Orumah ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Abdulsalami Orumah managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wigston City's supporters rose to their feet, but Abdulsalami Orumah was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ejike Ohenhen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Solomon Aiyetan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dauda Sofoluwe having to interfere. After having played for 88 minutes, Nsofor Akparanta managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wigston City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nsofor Akparanta was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nsofor Akparanta was extremely unlucky when he, in the 89th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 91st minute, one of Yatton:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Yatton. In the 93rd minute there was a penalty for Wigston City. Ihiabe Ogunsanya stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Ejike Ohenhen. 1-1. The supporters of Wigston City booed when Yatton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ahijah Amana didn't get a good kick on the ball.
