In the 32nd minute, Kodili Dada ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Manga Lartey was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. After a defensive mix-up in Derby AFC's zone, Sunday Odumegwu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Manga Lartey came out of the goal and Sunday Odumegwu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 37th minute, Omo Akintunde hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 39th minute, Mezie Roro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Sunday Odumegwu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mezie Roro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Kodili Dada fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manga Lartey having to interfere. After 52 played minutes Derby AFC got a freekick which was hit by Chiazagomekpele Aiyetan. Manga Lartey showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kodili Dada in the 58th minute of the match. If Mezie Roro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Christian Akpapunam during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
