The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Taye Bature recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 48th minute, Martin Ajeroh hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Buch Ugwuh was the one to do the kick off. After 54 minutes, Akabueze Dickson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Margate and the Ebira United Fc players grew even worse after the yellow card. Buch Ugwuh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Margate's Tasiu Onwuzuruike played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Buch Ugwuh in the 92nd minute of play. With a little luck, Margate's Tasiu Onwuzuruike got control of the ball when Taye Bature tried to sneak it across the goal line. Akabueze Imagbudu kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Margate fans cheered their team off the field, for while Ebira United Fc had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
