Spectators: 36 (Terracing: 28, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Stephen Burley started the match with the kick off. After a rather tough play, Great Ayton` FC's Franz Mitchell got a free kick in the 2nd minute. Gerry Moody took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roy Higgins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 4th minute, Jamal Clarke got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gerry Moody made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roy Higgins in the 6th minute of play. A collision led to Great Ayton` FC getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Franz Mitchell hit a great ball. If Fred Dewhirst had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jamal Clarke received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Gerry Moody tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Chiswick's Jamie Ridsdale suffered a concussion in the 13th minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. 13 minutes into the game, Bernard Robson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Great Ayton` FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Chiswick the free kick. Stephen Burley might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Steven Hughes . Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Stephen Burley ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 27th minute, Gavin Ely hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vic Johnson 's late challenge caught a Chiswick's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vic Johnson helped the player get up and apologised. After 31 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Great Ayton` FC! Steven Hughes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stephen Burley in the 42nd minute of play. Stephen Burley might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Steven Hughes . Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Stephen Burley ran back to his position shaking his head. Fred Dewhirst could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Steven Hughes made a huge save. The Great Ayton` FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Chiswick were winning 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jamal Clarke was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Chiswick's zone, Fred Dewhirst stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Steven Hughes came out of the goal and Fred Dewhirst tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Steven Hughes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fred Dewhirst in the 58th minute of play. Fred Dewhirst fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Steven Hughes having to interfere. Steven Hughes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fred Dewhirst , who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. Jamal Clarke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gerry Moody having to interfere. In the 76th minute, Jamal Clarke got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Frank Thurman 's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gerry Moody read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. With a little luck, Great Ayton` FC's Gerry Moody got control of the ball when Jamal Clarke tried to sneak it across the goal line.
