Spectators: 36 (Terracing: 28, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Bob Gallacher got the match started through his kick off. Neil Edwards received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Paul Barat tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Hexham AFC getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Freddy Colt hit a great ball. Tommy Fish, 9 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. In the 15th minute Derek Brownlee shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paul Barat saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 16th minute, Johnnie Davison made a precise shot to the right of Peter Mason. hpcsongi's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. In the 20th match minute, hpcsongi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Noel Nethercot to maneuver through the defense. 21 minutes into the match, Hexham AFC's Sam Coe broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Dion Ferguson kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Derek Brownlee received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Paul Barat tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 40th minute, Freddy Colt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Neil Edwards recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Neil Edwards made a kick off. The supporters of Hexham AFC booed when hpcsongi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tommy Fish didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Derek Brownlee came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the hpcsongi fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Derek Brownlee couldn't finish the play. Johnnie Davison fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Peter Mason having to interfere. Paul Barat made an important save on a dangerous shot by Derek Brownlee in the 61st minute. Peter Mason made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bob Gallacher in the 94th minute of play. hpcsongi's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
