Spectators: 38 (Terracing: 29, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Bromley's Donny Wardman started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Pat Smith sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A collision led to North Shields getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Al Marshall hit a great ball. After 7 played minutes Bromley got a freekick which was hit by Denzil Garrett. When Dean Best fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bromley's protests and gave Dean Best a yellow card for diving instead. Kenny Ambrose hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. In the 12th minute, Donny Wardman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Russell Pamplin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Donny Wardman's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. The supporters of North Shields booed when Bromley was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mark Bowden didn't get a good kick on the ball. 16 minutes into the match, North Shields's Paul Preston broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pat Smith in the 17th minute of play forced Bromley's goalkeeper George Myers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 19th play minutes Pat Smith shot 0-1, a short shot which went by George Myers and just under the crossbar into goal. The supporters of North Shields booed when Bromley was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Denny Rockett didn't get a good kick on the ball. Paul Preston missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 26 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the George Myers right hand side. Ash Baum kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. Paul Preston took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 29th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for George Myers. Bromley's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 32nd minute, North Shields's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Donny Wardman fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 36 minutes in the game, Jeff Kay fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Russell Pamplin having to interfere. Jack Hurdle's late challenge caught a North Shields's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jack Hurdle helped the player get up and apologised. Jack Hurdle kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. In the 46th minute the ball was on its way in behind North Shields's goalkeeper Russell Pamplin , but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After the first half North Shields were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Al Marshall could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but George Myers made a huge save. Russell Pamplin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jeff Kay in the 55th minute of the match. Russell Pamplin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Donny Wardman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. George Myers made an important save on a dangerous shot by Al Marshall in the 59th minute. Pat Smith recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 67 played minutes Bromley got a freekick which was hit by Louis Paisley. George Myers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pat Smith in the 73rd minute of the match. Al Marshall received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. George Myers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pat Smith struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. George Myers didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for North Shields. Dean Best was shown his second yellow card after 79 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. A collision led to Bromley getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Dean Best hit a great ball. After 81 played minutes North Shields got a freekick which was hit by Al Marshall . George Myers stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pat Smith's shot from short distance in the 88th minute. Bromley's George Myers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pat Smith in the 90th minute of play. In the 91st minute, Pat Smith got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. North Shields walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
