Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Warren Simpson took the kick off in the first half of the match. In the 6th match minute, Ferryton United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dave Ricketts to maneuver through the defense. Dylon Mumford struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Dean Hay didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ferryton United. In the 19th minute, Ashley Alsop ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mickey Clifton was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Warren Simpson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dean Hay having to interfere. If Sonny Stayton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Adam Major fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ferryton United's protests and gave Adam Major a yellow card for diving instead. After 29 played minutes Ferryton United got a freekick which was hit by Adam Major . 31 minutes into the game, Ashley Alsop cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Mickey Clifton was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 35 played minutes, Ferryton United's Rodd Vaughn shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Dean Hay came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ferryton United reached it. In the 43rd minute, Rodd Vaughn hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ferryton United's defense didn't have a chance, in the 45th minute, when Ashley Alsop scored to the left of an out of position Mickey Clifton , making the score, 3-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Danny Deaconsfield made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Warren Simpson in the 54th minute of play forced Runcorn's goalkeeper Dean Hay to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dylon Mumford 's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dean Hay read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. Wayne Blunt hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Dylon Mumford could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Dean Hay made a huge save. Mickey Clifton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Danny Deaconsfield in the 62nd minute of play. Dave Ricketts kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. If Danny Deaconsfield had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Warren Simpson in the 70th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dean Hay prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 79 minutes into the match, Runcorn's William McAuley sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mickey Clifton narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Ferryton United's zone, Ashley Alsop stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mickey Clifton came out of the goal and Ashley Alsop tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If William McAuley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 89 played minutes Warren Simpson rounded Runcorn's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 3-1. Runcorn's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
