The referee ignored Liverpool's protests and gave Alfredo Mills a yellow card for diving instead. After 15 played minutes Liverpool got a freekick which was hit by Alfredo Mills. The supporters of Avebury AFC booed when Liverpool was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfredo Mills didn't get a good kick on the ball. Trevor Pearson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kelvin Kindness in the 18th minute of the match. Crispin Potterton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Austen Burnett tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. George Routledge struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Austen Burnett didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Liverpool. After 21 minutes, Ty Pointon mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Avebury AFC and the Liverpool players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 22 played minutes Avebury AFC got a freekick which was hit by Ty Pointon. Trevor Pearson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kenneth Dalton, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Crispin Pottertons short, quick shot in the 33rdth minute got Austen Burnett to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After some careless play in the Liverpool defense, Kenneth Dalton kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Trevor Pearson. The Liverpool fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Trevor Pearson should have stopped the shot.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kenneth Dalton was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kenneth Dalton in the 52nd minute of play forced Liverpool's goalkeeper Trevor Pearson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ty Pointon hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Liverpool's zone, Kelvin Kindness stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Trevor Pearson came out of the goal and Kelvin Kindness tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Trevor Pearson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kenneth Dalton in the 60th minute of play. Austen Burnett didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Crispin Potterton went, in the 71st minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. 75 minutes into the match, Liverpool's goalkeeper Trevor Pearson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Kelvin Kindness. 76 minutes into the game, Liverpool's Crispin Potterton nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Austen Burnett made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. If Crispin Potterton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kenneth Dalton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kenneth Dalton in the 88th minute of play forced Liverpool's goalkeeper Trevor Pearson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 93 minutes into the match, Liverpool's goal looked a bit too open when Kenneth Dalton came free, but Trevor Pearson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. There was no doubt that Liverpool were the better team. Liverpool's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
