In the 3rd minute, Derek Wood ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. James Moyse was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Duncan Ingram hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. In the 10th minute Kev Meade shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Derek Carragher saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 11 played minutes Belfast Rebels FC got a freekick which was hit by Joe Thomas. Sean Hargraves struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Derek Carragher didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Biggleswade. Belfast Rebels FC's Derek Carragher proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save Belfast Rebels FC from getting a goal against them. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Derek Wood in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg James Moyse saved Biggleswade from getting behind. After 17th play minutes Derek Wood shot 0-2, a short shot which went by James Moyse and just under the crossbar into goal. 20 minutes into the match, Belfast Rebels FC's Billy Feeney sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that James Moyse narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Biggleswade's Kev Dearden got a free kick in the 21st minute. James Moyse came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Belfast Rebels FC's Billy Feeney. But to his dismay, Billy Feeney quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. 29 minutes into the match, Kev Dearden had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Derek Carragher. Belfast Rebels FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Kev Dearden was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. James Moyse stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Billy Feeney's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. Billy Feeney sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Billy Feeney received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. James Moyse tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. James Moyse stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Billy Feeney's shot from short distance in the 45th minute. James Moyse made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Derek Wood in the 47th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Kev Meade made the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Derek Wood ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. James Moyse was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. In the 64thth minute of the game Billy Feeney who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Biggleswade's James Moyse was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. James Moyse made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when Derek Wood sent off a good shot on target. Billy Feeney scored 1-5 in the 67th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of James Moyse , who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 71st minute, Billy Feeney got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a little luck, Biggleswade's James Moyse got control of the ball when Reuben Auckland tried to sneak it across the goal line. Derek Wood who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 85thth minute tested the skills of James Moyse when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Derek Wood in the 90thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of James Moyse , who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 90th minute, one of Belfast Rebels FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Belfast Rebels FC. The referee gave Biggleswade a penalty, 93 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Syd Hutchins , who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Belfast Rebels FC's Derek Carragher. 2-6. The audience was convinced that Billy Feeney's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but James Moyse was relentless in the 96th minute of the game. Kev Dearden 's late challenge caught a Belfast Rebels FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kev Dearden helped the player get up and apologised.
