When Bricin Delaney fell near the penalty area in the 3rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Connonagh's protests and gave Bricin Delaney a yellow card for diving instead. In the 3rd minute, Bricin Delaney hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Dermot Caffrey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Kylegrove's Todd Scully got a free kick in the 10th minute. Dinny Hamilton kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. Brenda Delaney charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Brenda Delaney the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Connonagh getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Brenda Delaney hit a great ball. Connonagh's Basil McPeter played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brenda Glen Crowe in the 23rd minute of play. In the 25thth minute of the game Brenda Glen Crowe who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Connonagh's Basil McPeter was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 26 minutes into the match, Dermot Caffrey notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Connonagh's Basil McPeter. Basil McPeter was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Basil McPeter showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dermot Caffrey in the 32nd minute of the match. Brenda Glen Crowe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Brenda Glen Crowe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Basil McPeter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Connonagh's zone, Brenda Glen Crowe stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Basil McPeter came out of the goal and Brenda Glen Crowe tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 42ndth minute of the game Dermot Caffrey who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Connonagh's Basil McPeter was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When the match clock showed 42 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Dermot Caffrey sped through Connonagh's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Basil McPeter. Dermot Caffrey fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Basil McPeter having to interfere. After the first half Kylegrove were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Brenda Glen Crowe made the kick off in the second half. Gaynor McNamee received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Seosamh McSteven tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 54th minute Barcvni John shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Seosamh McSteven saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 55 minutes into the match, Connonagh's goal looked a bit too open when Brenda Glen Crowe came free, but Basil McPeter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Basil McPeter didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 64th minute, which inside left pole to 0-3. In the 80th minute Brenda Glen Crowe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Basil McPeter saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Connonagh's Basil McPeter got control of the ball when Dermot Caffrey tried to sneak it across the goal line. A hard shot 86 in the game by Dermot Caffrey from a close distance when the talented Basil McPeter managed to make a qualified save. Connonagh's players were relieved. Todd Scully struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Basil McPeter didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Kylegrove. Basil McPeter took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brenda Glen Crowe, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 96th minute of the match Britt Taylor shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Basil McPeter showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball.
