Spectators: 35 (Terracing: 27, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Bow Johnson kicked off to start the match. Derrick McFrank sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Herne McSteven made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bow Johnson in the 4th minute of play. A collision led to Knocksquire getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Artuir Scully hit a great ball. 7 minutes into the match, Knocksquire's goal looked a bit too open when Bow Johnson came free, but Herne McSteven reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bow Johnson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Herne McSteven having to interfere. When Knocksquire's Donald McJohn in the 12th minute got a chance for a shot 12th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ballinalack's goalie prevented a goal. After a rather tough play, Ballinalack's Gil Grant got a free kick in the 13th minute. Harrigan McAlphie made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Brenda Rutherford sent off a good shot on target. In the 16th minute, Tipper McStephen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Brenda Rutherford managed to get in a good position for a shot. Knocksquire's supporters rose to their feet, but Brenda Rutherford was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Harrigan McAlphie breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Herne McSteven took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bow Johnson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 20 minutes, Derrick McFrank mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ballinalack and the Knocksquire players grew even worse after the yellow card. Derrick McFrank hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Ballinalack's Harrigan McAlphie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Richard McAaron in the 24th minute of play. Richard McAaron blasted a shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Harrigan McAlphie having to make a save. Ballinalack's Derrick McFrank got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 40 minutes into the match Brenda Rutherford climbed in front of goal and pressed up 1-0 in the right cross behind a totally surprised Harrigan McAlphie. In the 42nd match minute, Knocksquire was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dennis McIan to maneuver through the defense. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Richard McAaron made the kick off in the second half. Bow Johnson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Herne McSteven stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bow Johnson's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. After having played for 55 minutes, Bow Johnson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ballinalack's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bow Johnson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Richard McAaron in the 65th minute of play forced Ballinalack's goalkeeper Harrigan McAlphie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ballinalack's Harrigan McAlphie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Richard McAaron in the 75th minute of play. If Brenda Rutherford had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 79 minutes, Tipper McStephen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ballinalack and the Knocksquire players grew even worse after the yellow card. Richard McAaron fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Harrigan McAlphie having to interfere. Derrick McFrank succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-1 in the 84th playminute. In the 87th match minute, Knocksquire was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Donald McJohn to maneuver through the defense. Bow Johnson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Herne McSteven having to interfere. In a very dangerous position, a player in Ballinalack fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 91st minute. Penalty!
