The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Brion McAlphie showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Tipper McTom fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Herne McSteven having to interfere. In the 17th match minute, Knocksquire was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Samueil Gillmour to maneuver through the defense. 22 minutes into the match, Clonarrow's goal looked a bit too open when Richard McAaron came free, but Brion McAlphie reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Brenda Rutherford received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Brion McAlphie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 31 minutes, Brenda Rutherford managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Knocksquire's supporters crossed their fingers, but Brenda Rutherford was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 33 minutes into the game, Clonarrow's Beatty MaCollin nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Herne McSteven made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 38thth minute of the game Richard McAaron who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Clonarrow's Brion McAlphie was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Richard McAaron struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Brion McAlphie didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Knocksquire. 44 minutes in the game, Dennis McIan fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Brion McAlphie having to interfere. The supporters of Knocksquire booed when Clonarrow was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Donall Hutton didn't get a good kick on the ball. Brenda Rutherford recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene.
