One of Gortnagappul AFC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Macreddin FC:s goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aaden Ghee in the 20th minute of play forced Macreddin FC's goalkeeper Tormaigh McPhilip to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 20th match minute, Macreddin FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Payton Kelly to maneuver through the defense. Flannery Ghee fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donncha Murphy having to interfere. A collision led to Gortnagappul AFC getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Antaine Bayes hit a great ball. When Phelim Dunne came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Macreddin FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Phelim Dunne couldn't finish the play. Branson Deery took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 39th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Tormaigh McPhilip. Macreddin FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 39th minute, Payton Kelly hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 44th minute the ball was on its way in behind Macreddin FC's goalkeeper Tormaigh McPhilip, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of Macreddin FC booed when Gortnagappul AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rollan Harkin didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Flannery Ghee came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Macreddin FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Flannery Ghee couldn't finish the play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Theodore Grant made a kick off. Through an outstanding action, after 52 minutes, Donncha Murphy successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Donncha Murphy made an important save on a dangerous shot by Phelim Dunne in the 54th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Theodore Grant in the 59th minute of play forced Macreddin FC's goalkeeper Tormaigh McPhilip to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Flannery Ghee sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Donncha Murphy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Flannery Ghee in the 65th minute of play. Gortnagappul AFC's Donncha Murphy proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 72nd minute of the match, managed to save Gortnagappul AFC from getting a goal against them. Ferdia Deery's late challenge caught a Gortnagappul AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ferdia Deery helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Gortnagappul AFC booed when Macreddin FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ferdia Deery didn't get a good kick on the ball. Breadan Doherty was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 77th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Phelim Dunne recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Macreddin FC's Flannery Ghee managed to work through Gortnagappul AFC's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Flannery Ghee dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. After a defensive mix-up in Gortnagappul AFC's zone, Flannery Ghee stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Donncha Murphy came out of the goal and Flannery Ghee tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 88 minutes into the match, Flannery Ghee notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Gortnagappul AFC's Donncha Murphy. Donncha Murphy was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a defensive mix-up in Gortnagappul AFC's zone, Phelim Dunne stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Donncha Murphy came out of the goal and Phelim Dunne tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Macreddin FC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
