Moate's Kealan Lester got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 7 minutes into the match, Moate's goal looked a bit too open when Harrington Kirby came free, but Cleary McIan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gilbert McGlenn stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Brann McOliver's shot from short distance in the 8th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brann McOliver in the 14th minute of play forced Ferrybank Utd's goalkeeper Gilbert McGlenn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 16th minute of the match Bryan Glen Crowe shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gilbert McGlenn showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 22nd minute Brazil Dunne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cleary McIan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kealan Lester's late challenge caught a Ferrybank Utd's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kealan Lester helped the player get up and apologised. Kealan Lester kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. 34 minutes into the game, Roland Gough was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ferrybank Utd's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Moate the free kick. In the 35th match minute, Ferrybank Utd was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roland Gough to maneuver through the defense. Moate's Cleary McIan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brazil Dunne in the 41st minute of play. After having played for 43 minutes, Kealan Lester managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Moate's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kealan Lester was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Brazil Dunne made a kick off. In the 52ndth minute of the game Brann McOliver who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ferrybank Utd's Gilbert McGlenn was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Moate's Cleary McIan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to save Moate from getting a goal against them. Ferrybank Utd's Gilbert McGlenn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brann McOliver in the 59th minute of play. Cleary McIan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brazil Dunne in the 61st minute of play.
