Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Berkeley Palmer kicked off to start the match. 3 minutes into the match, Flann Rutherford dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Tomás Brennan, 1-0. Tomás Brennan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Berkeley Palmer, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. A collision led to Killyon getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Robert Molloy hit a great ball. Flann Rutherford could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Tomás Brennan made a huge save. Athabatteen FC's Tomás Brennan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Athabatteen FC from getting a goal against them. With a little luck, Athabatteen FC's Tomás Brennan got control of the ball when Baird Gough tried to sneak it across the goal line. David Caffrey made a great header on Killyon's corner, it was just that Athabatteen FC's Tomás Brennan managed to reach the ball for a save. 35 minutes into the game, Berkeley Palmer recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Tomás Brennan. Berkeley Palmer showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-0. In the 39th minute, Donavon Rutherford got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lewis Kelly showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leonard Grant in the 42nd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Killyon's zone, Fionntán McFrank stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lewis Kelly came out of the goal and Fionntán McFrank tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Reamann Duggan's late challenge caught a Killyon's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Reamann Duggan helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Killyon booed when Athabatteen FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reamann Duggan didn't get a good kick on the ball. 48 minutes into the match, Athabatteen FC's goalkeeper Tomás Brennan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dillon Kelly.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Fionntán McFrank to strike the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Athabatteen FC's goal looked a bit too open when Flann Rutherford came free, but Tomás Brennan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 55th minute Berkeley Palmer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tomás Brennan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 56th minute Donavon Rutherford shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lewis Kelly saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 61st minute Fionntán McFrank shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lewis Kelly saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Felim McLian fell near the penalty area in the 61st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Killyon's protests and gave Felim McLian a yellow card for diving instead. In the 62nd minute, Felim McLian hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Felim McLian might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tomás Brennan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Felim McLian ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Killyon booed when Athabatteen FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reamann Duggan didn't get a good kick on the ball. Donavon Rutherford fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lewis Kelly having to interfere. Patty Willson hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, David Caffrey managed to get in a good position for a shot. Killyon's supporters rose to their feet, but David Caffrey was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tomás Brennan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 85th match minute, Athabatteen FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patty Willson to maneuver through the defense. Tomás Brennan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Berkeley Palmer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Donavon Rutherford kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Lewis Kelly. That made the score 4-1 in the 90 minute of play. In the 94th minute, Berkeley Palmer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Fionntán McFrank came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Athabatteen FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fionntán McFrank couldn't finish the play. There was no doubt that Killyon were the better team. Killyon's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
