In the 6th match minute, Ballybane was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bren Gollogley to maneuver through the defense. The Portsalon fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Bearnard Holt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brian Ryan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Brian Ryan got free with Bearnard Holt in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Bearnard Holt made an important save on a dangerous shot by Braon McBrandon in the 19th minute. Brian Ryan in the 22ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Bearnard Holt, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. A hard shot 24 in the game by Brian Ryan from a close distance when the talented Bearnard Holt managed to make a qualified save. Ballybane's players were relieved. Ballybane's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Portsalon the free kick. Barra McGlynn kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Bearnard Holt was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Beartlai Caffey. In the 35th minute, Braon McBrandon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Ballybane's Bren Gollogley got a free kick in the 37th minute. With his leg Bearnard Holt managed to avoid a goal in the 44thth minute, when Portsalon's Brian Ryan fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Bragan John had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Braon McBrandon scored 3-0 in the 58th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Bearnard Holt, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to Ballybane getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Bren Gollogley hit a great ball. 71 minutes into the game, Donlan McVictor was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Portsalon's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ballybane the free kick. Braon McBrandon's late challenge caught a Ballybane's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Braon McBrandon helped the player get up and apologised. Braon McBrandon hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. In the 75th match minute, Ballybane was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jonathan Molloy to maneuver through the defense. In the 78th minute Bragan John shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bearnard Holt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Brakawn McGlenn received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Don Ferguson came out and tried to block the shot, but Brakawn McGlenn slotted it home off the left post making it 3-1 in the 86th minute. Portsalon's Don Ferguson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bevan Kirby in the 91st minute of play. If Brian Ryan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 93 minutes into the match, Ballybane's goal looked a bit too open when Brian Ryan came free, but Bearnard Holt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
