AFC Grays's Rod Butcher got a good chance for a goal in the 4th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gareth Titmus took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bob Roberts, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 9th minute Reuben Banim shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zaq Stevens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bob Roberts fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gareth Titmus having to interfere. Gareth Titmus made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Calum Heywood sent off a good shot on target. 21 minutes into the match, AFC Grays's goalkeeper Gareth Titmus had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Calum Heywood. AFC Grays's defense didn't have a chance, in the 21st minute, when Calum Heywood scored to the left of an out of position Gareth Titmus, making the score, 1-1. After 24 played minutes Walthamstow AFC got a freekick which was hit by Warren Clay. Reuben Banim hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. 32 minutes into the match, AFC Grays's Rod Butcher sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Zaq Stevens narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Rod Bartlett kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Rod Butcher managed to get in a good position for a shot. AFC Grays's supporters rose to their feet, but Rod Butcher was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zaq Stevens breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Zaq Stevens took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rod Butcher, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ron Grantham's late challenge caught a Walthamstow AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ron Grantham helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to AFC Grays getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Ron Grantham hit a great ball. The Walthamstow AFC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. AFC Grays were winning 1-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Reuben Banim made a kick off. With a little luck, Walthamstow AFC's Zaq Stevens got control of the ball when Rod Butcher tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 53rdth minute of the game Reuben Banim who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Walthamstow AFC's Zaq Stevens was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Zaq Stevens didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 55th minute, which inside left pole to 1-3. In the 61st minute, Rod Butcher got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rod Butcher struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Zaq Stevens didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AFC Grays. Zaq Stevens was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Reuben Banim showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-4 in the 64 minute of play. In the 73rd match minute, AFC Grays was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reuben Banim to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, AFC Grays's Ken Winstanley got a free kick in the 76th minute. After 78 played minutes, Walthamstow AFC's Sammy Sledge shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Gareth Titmus came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Reuben Banim's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Zaq Stevens was relentless in the 88th minute of the game. Zaq Stevens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reuben Banim in the 93rd minute of play. A collision led to Walthamstow AFC getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Warren Clay hit a great ball. Zaq Stevens showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Reuben Banim in the 95th minute of the match. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. AFC Grays walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
