When Walthamstow AFC's Bob Roberts in the 21st minute got a chance for a shot 21st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Stockton-on-Tees City's goalie prevented a goal. Stockton-on-Tees City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Felix Griffiths was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 41 minutes into the game, Des Hanley was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Walthamstow AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Stockton-on-Tees City the free kick. Felix Griffiths recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 45 minutes into the match, Stockton-on-Tees City's Felix Griffiths sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Zaq Stevens narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to Walthamstow AFC getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Warren Clay hit a great ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bob Roberts to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Stockton-on-Tees City's zone, Calum Heywood stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stephen Pennant came out of the goal and Calum Heywood tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 55th minute of the match, Felix Griffiths got a very nice opportunity to score, but Zaq Stevens was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Kris Litchfield hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. Bob Roberts's late challenge caught a Stockton-on-Tees City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bob Roberts helped the player get up and apologised. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Stockton-on-Tees City's Jerome Rice in the 69th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Zaq Stevens was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Walthamstow AFC through an amazing save. When the match had gone on for 72 minutes, Calum Heywood put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Stephen Pennant. In the 78th minute, Felix Griffiths got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 79 played minutes Walthamstow AFC got a freekick which was hit by Warren Clay. Jerome Rice might have been able to make a better finish in the 85th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zaq Stevens. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jerome Rice ran back to his position shaking his head. Zaq Stevens showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jerome Rice, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. 95 minutes into the game, Dom Marler was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player.
