Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Fitz Heath took the kick off in the first half of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Westbury-sub-Mendip's zone, Fitz Heath stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sam Gold came out of the goal and Fitz Heath tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rodney Peakman got free with Terry Hodgson in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ivor Branston sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 15th match minute, Westbury-sub-Mendip was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rodney Peakman to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 19 minutes, Rodney Peakman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Westbury-sub-Mendip's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rodney Peakman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sam Gold showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fitz Heath, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. In the 31st minute, Fitz Heath ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sam Gold was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Fitz Heath received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Sam Gold tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Rodney Peakman managed to get in a good position for a shot. Westbury-sub-Mendip's supporters rose to their feet, but Rodney Peakman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Terry Hodgson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Terry Hodgson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ivor Branston in the 46th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ivor Branston made a kick off. In the 51st minute of the match Ruben Dawson sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sam Gold skillfully saved the ball. Jack Pickard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Sam Gold tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 64th minute, Jonathan Beevers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Jack Pickard had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 74thth minute of the game Rodney Peakman who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Perivale United's Terry Hodgson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jack Pickard blasted a shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sam Gold having to make a save. A collision led to Perivale United getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Paul Westerby hit a great ball. Perivale United's Terry Hodgson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rodney Peakman in the 86th minute of play. 95 minutes into the game, Perivale United's Jack Pickard nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sam Gold made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Perivale United eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
