Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Richard Bridgewater started the match with the kick off. Ricky Parkinson kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. Ronny Atherton stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Chesney Ottaway's shot from short distance in the 6th minute. If Richard Bridgewater had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 12th minute Chesney Ottaway shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronny Atherton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alastair Downing showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Richard Bridgewater, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Harry Pallister hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Justin Odell's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 30thth minute, Alastair Downing skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. If Richard Bridgewater had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Harry Pallister fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Great Ayton United's protests and gave Harry Pallister a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Great Ayton United getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Harry Pallister hit a great ball. After 38 played minutes Great Ayton United got a freekick which was hit by Jack Jones. Justin Odell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 45th minute, Richard Bridgewater ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alastair Downing was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
The wind increased when Alan Chegwyn made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alan Chegwyn in the 51st minute of play forced Fence Houses's goalkeeper Ronny Atherton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Justin Odell in the 54th minute of play forced Great Ayton United's goalkeeper Alastair Downing to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jack Jones hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. After 60 played minutes Fence Houses got a freekick which was hit by Jimmy Law. After a defensive mix-up in Fence Houses's zone, Chesney Ottaway stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ronny Atherton came out of the goal and Chesney Ottaway tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Richard Bridgewater sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 81 minutes into the game, one of Fence Houses:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Justin Odell received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Alastair Downing tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fence Houses's Richard Bridgewater got a good chance for a goal in the 99th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Great Ayton United players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
