He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Stroud reached it. After some careless play in the Stroud defense, Fitz Stonehouse kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nicky Payne. The Stroud fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nicky Payne should have stopped the shot. Nicky Payne stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Danny Parkin's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. Eddy Lawson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John-Paul Carey-Bertram having to interfere. After 41 played minutes Eddy Lawson rounded Truro's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gary Blair during the 44th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
