Jonathon Reeve fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brad Sawyer having to interfere. Verne Willets made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rupert Boyd in the 21st minute of play. Ethan Fenton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Brad Sawyer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 28thth minute of the game Rupert Boyd who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Liphook AFC's Verne Willets was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Charles Richardson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Liphook AFC's Verne Willets played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rupert Boyd in the 32nd minute of play. With a little luck, Codicote's Brad Sawyer got control of the ball when Jonathon Reeve tried to sneak it across the goal line. 36 minutes into the match, Codicote's goalkeeper Brad Sawyer had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jonathon Reeve. Liphook AFC were awarded a corner in the 39th minute after Codicote's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ty Hanley took the corner. After a rather tough play, Liphook AFC's Basil Garforth got a free kick in the 40th minute. In the 46th minute the ball was on its way in behind Codicote's goalkeeper Brad Sawyer, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The supporters of Codicote booed when Liphook AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ronan Swanson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Verne Willets took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rupert Boyd, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Ethan Fenton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 66th match minute, Codicote was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Geoff Walton to maneuver through the defense. Brad Sawyer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ethan Fenton in the 67th minute of play. Rupert Boyd recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 95th minute, Ethan Fenton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vince Fielden charged in rather forcefully in the 96th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Vince Fielden the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Brad Sawyer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ethan Fenton in the 98th minute of play. The Liphook AFC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Codicote's performance. The match ended with a win for Codicote.
