After a defensive mix-up in Browns Boys's zone, Danny Fordham stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Neil Jennings came out of the goal and Danny Fordham tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers 郑剑适 in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gwyn Talbot saved Sheffield from getting behind. Gwyn Talbot stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of 郑剑适's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Danny Fordham got free with Neil Jennings in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The crowd rose to their feet as Sheffield's Joseph Murphy slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Neil Jennings. That made the score 1-0 after 19 minutes of play. Danny Fordham took the ball and in the 28 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Neil Jennings. Neil Jennings dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Danny Fordham sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 40th minute, Joseph Murphy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Warren Drake during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 44th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sheffield's goalkeeper Gwyn Talbot, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Browns Boys's 郑剑适 in the 48th minute got a chance for a shot 48th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Sheffield's goalie prevented a goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Joseph Murphy was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Jerry Tindale was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Browns Boys's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sheffield the free kick. Jerry Tindale kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers 郑剑适 in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gwyn Talbot saved Sheffield from getting behind. After 60 minutes of play, Browns Boys's 郑剑适 made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gwyn Talbot was left in no man's land by his defense there! 68 minutes into the match, Browns Boys's goal looked a bit too open when Joseph Murphy came free, but Neil Jennings reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 69 minutes into the match, Danny Fordham notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Browns Boys's Neil Jennings. Neil Jennings was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 74th minute, Barney Tetley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Sheffield's Joseph Murphy got a free kick in the 76th minute. 79 minutes into the match, Joseph Murphy notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of Browns Boys's Neil Jennings. Neil Jennings was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Browns Boys's Barney Tetley got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Rob Gibbs fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sheffield's protests and gave Rob Gibbs a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Sheffield getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Rob Gibbs hit a great ball. Many of Browns Boys's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Browns Boys may have spent more time on the ball, but Sheffield were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
