Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) New Marske's Mark Bayliff started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 7th minute, Rick Linford got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to New Marske getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Alistair Ridgeway hit a great ball. Dorney United's Ryan Gamble couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 11th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for New Marske. In the 13th minute, Bart Salmon got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 14th minute, Tosh Gamble hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in New Marske's zone, Bart Salmon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thom Bettinson came out of the goal and Bart Salmon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 20th minute, Mark Bayliff fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Dorney United's Wes Lock proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Dorney United from getting a goal against them. In the 25th minute the ball was on its way in behind New Marske's goalkeeper Thom Bettinson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Bart Salmon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dorney United's Wes Lock played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mark Bayliff in the 33rd minute of play. In the 34th match minute, Dorney United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cody Buckle to maneuver through the defense. When Bart Salmon came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Dorney United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bart Salmon couldn't finish the play. If Bart Salmon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lloyd Bentham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wes Lock having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rick Linford to strike the kick off in the second half. If Mark Bayliff had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Thom Bettinson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rick Linford, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. After a rather tough play, Dorney United's Cody Buckle got a free kick in the 59th minute. Bart Salmon's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 67thth minute, Thom Bettinson skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. If Lloyd Bentham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Mark Bayliff had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. New Marske's Wayne Durrant suffered a concussion in the 80th minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. Danny Wheeler's late challenge caught a New Marske's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Danny Wheeler helped the player get up and apologised. After recieving a nice pass, New Marske's Leo Welsh tried to score from far away in the 82nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Dorney United's zone, Lloyd Bentham stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wes Lock came out of the goal and Lloyd Bentham tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bart Salmon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thom Bettinson having to interfere. Dorney United's Bart Salmon got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 94 minutes, Lloyd Bentham managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. New Marske's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lloyd Bentham was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The New Marske fans cheered their team off the field, for while Dorney United had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
