Thom Bettinson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Crayford. Thom Bettinson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Shane Cowling in the 10th minute. After a defensive mix-up in New Marske's zone, Shane Cowling stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thom Bettinson came out of the goal and Shane Cowling tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Seth Eadan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Crayford's supporters rose to their feet, but Seth Eadan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Thom Bettinson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Shane Cowling might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Thom Bettinson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Shane Cowling ran back to his position shaking his head. John Osbourne showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mark Bayliff, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Seth Eadan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thom Bettinson having to interfere. 26 minutes into the match, New Marske's goalkeeper Thom Bettinson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Shane Cowling. After 28 played minutes New Marske got a freekick which was hit by Wayne Durrant. Mark Bayliff sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. John Osbourne showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mark Bayliff, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Shane Cowling received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Thom Bettinson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 46th minute Seth Eadan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thom Bettinson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Wayne Durrant during the 46th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Wayne Durrant hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. When Shane Cowling came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Crayford fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Shane Cowling couldn't finish the play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
Crayford's John Osbourne played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mark Bayliff in the 53rd minute of play. In the 82nd minute, Seth Eadan ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Thom Bettinson was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. New Marske's Mark Bayliff got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Mark Bayliff had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Dean Newlyn came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Crayford fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dean Newlyn couldn't finish the play. After 93 played minutes New Marske got a freekick which was hit by Wayne Durrant. New Marske's Thom Bettinson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Seth Eadan in the 94th minute of play.
