The audience was convinced that Zak Marler's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Brett Cowling was relentless in the 5th minute of the game. Jacob Gallagher showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rhys Timiney in the 7th minute of the match. If Jay Blackley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Milton Keynes City FC's Rhys Timiney got a free kick in the 19th minute. Jacob Gallagher showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jay Blackley, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zak Marler in the 33rd minute of play forced Milton Keynes City FC's goalkeeper Brett Cowling to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dale Tompkins during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 36th minute, Jay Blackley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jacob Gallagher made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rhys Timiney in the 37th minute of play. With a little luck, Milton Keynes City FC's Brett Cowling got control of the ball when Dale Tompkins tried to sneak it across the goal line. 43 minutes into the match, Milton Keynes City FC's goalkeeper Brett Cowling had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Toby Boulton. In the 47th match minute, Milton Keynes City FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stefan Moyse to maneuver through the defense.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jay Blackley stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Milton Keynes City FC's Rhys Timiney got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Toby Boulton might have been able to make a better finish in the 59th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Brett Cowling. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Toby Boulton ran back to his position shaking his head. Rhys Timiney's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Jacob Gallagher firmly grabbed it by the left post. Leo Brook charged in rather forcefully in the 65th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Leo Brook the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Perton booed when Milton Keynes City FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leo Brook didn't get a good kick on the ball. 66 minutes into the match, Lucas Fayle notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Milton Keynes City FC's Brett Cowling. Brett Cowling was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Rhys Timiney struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Jacob Gallagher didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Milton Keynes City FC. After 80 played minutes Perton got a freekick which was hit by Lucas Fayle. After a defensive mix-up in Perton's zone, Rhys Timiney stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacob Gallagher came out of the goal and Rhys Timiney tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 86 minutes into the match, Perton's Toby Boulton sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Brett Cowling narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Zak Marler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Brett Cowling tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
