Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Romeo Hargreaves took the kick off in the first half of the match. CJ Sewell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reg Lawton having to interfere. In the 19th minute John Ambrose shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gary Sanderson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Romeo Hargreaves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In a very dangerous position, a player in St Austell fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 23rd minute. Penalty! In the 27th minute, CJ Sewell made a precise shot to the right of Reg Lawton. St Austell's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. In the 39th minute Romeo Hargreaves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Reg Lawton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when John Ambrose got free with Gary Sanderson in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 46 played minutes St Austell got a freekick which was hit by Glenn Buchanan. Rugby's Blair Porter couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 47th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for St Austell. The St Austell players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Rugby were winning 0-1.
The wind increased when Chaz Mortimer made the kick off in the second half. Gary Sanderson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from John Ambrose, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gary Sanderson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chaz Mortimer in the 55th minute of play. Romeo Hargreaves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Reg Lawton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Romeo Hargreaves came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Rugby fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Romeo Hargreaves couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, John Ambrose managed to get in a good position for a shot. St Austell's supporters rose to their feet, but John Ambrose was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gary Sanderson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 76th minute John Ambrose shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gary Sanderson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, St Austell's Reg Lawton got control of the ball when CJ Sewell tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 81st minute Romeo Hargreaves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Reg Lawton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The St Austell fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Rugby were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
