Gary Hazell's late challenge caught a Notting Hill Gate City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dylon Toulson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reg Lawton having to interfere. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Notting Hill Gate City reached it. John Ambrose fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sammy Abbott having to interfere. If Chaz Mortimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of St Austell booed when Notting Hill Gate City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rhys Bamford didn't get a good kick on the ball.
