Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Luke Bartrup kicked off to start the match. Don Warburton could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 6th minute of the match, but Victor Beasley made a huge save. 9 minutes into the match, High Wycombe's goalkeeper Victor Beasley had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Don Warburton. The supporters of Whitworth booed when High Wycombe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Louis Seabourne didn't get a good kick on the ball. Whitworth were furious when Tristram Dixon was red carded, 14 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Ian Workman walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. In the 18th minute Stan Fletcher shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ashley Hitchen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Whitworth's Giles Ratcliffe got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 29 played minutes High Wycombe got a freekick which was hit by Ian Workman. Don Warburton could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Victor Beasley made a huge save. 35 minutes into the match, Whitworth's goal looked a bit too open when Stan Fletcher came free, but Ashley Hitchen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Whitworth's zone, Louis Seabourne stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ashley Hitchen came out of the goal and Louis Seabourne tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Stan Fletcher to strike the kick off in the second half. Louis Seabourne received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Ashley Hitchen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Louis Seabourne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ashley Hitchen having to interfere. High Wycombe's Victor Beasley played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Don Warburton in the 58th minute of play. Ashley Hitchen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stan Fletcher in the 67th minute of the match. In the 69th minute of the match High Wycombe got a corner. Whitworth's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ian Workman ran over to the corner to take the kick. Ashley Hitchen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stan Fletcher, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Giles Ratcliffe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Victor Beasley having to interfere. Louis Seabourne in the 80thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Ashley Hitchen, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 88th minute the ball was on its way in behind Whitworth's goalkeeper Ashley Hitchen, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Don Warburton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Victor Beasley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Stan Fletcher was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 93rd minute. High Wycombe's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After some careless play in the Whitworth defense, Louis Seabourne kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ashley Hitchen. The Whitworth fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ashley Hitchen should have stopped the shot.
