Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Sly Wishart started the match with the kick off. In the 3rd minute, Rio Fleming hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 11th match minute, Carlisle was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jeff Layfield to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Martin Button got free with Tristram Townsley in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 14th minute Nicholas Barltrop shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Louis Hawke saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Iain Mansfield struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Louis Hawke didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Carlisle. When Nicholas Barltrop came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Carlisle fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nicholas Barltrop couldn't finish the play. After 18 minutes of play, Carlisle's Iain Mansfield made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Louis Hawke was left in no man's land by his defense there! Martin Button in the 21stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Tristram Townsley, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 22 minutes into the match, Carlisle's goalkeeper Tristram Townsley had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Martin Button. The supporters of Boston United booed when Carlisle was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ged Ingram didn't get a good kick on the ball. Boston United's Louis Hawke played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicholas Barltrop in the 25th minute of play. With a little luck, Carlisle's Tristram Townsley got control of the ball when Martin Button tried to sneak it across the goal line. Martin Button succeeded in the game's 41st minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sly Wishart in the 45th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tristram Townsley prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Martin Button sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Iain Mansfield stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Boston United's Louis Hawke proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to save Boston United from getting a goal against them. Nicholas Barltrop could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Louis Hawke made a huge save. Boston United's Sly Wishart got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Carlisle's zone, Martin Button stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tristram Townsley came out of the goal and Martin Button tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 63rd match minute, Carlisle was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ged Ingram to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rio Fleming during the 64th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Boston United booed when Carlisle was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rio Fleming didn't get a good kick on the ball. Iain Mansfield fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Louis Hawke having to interfere. Sly Wishart sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 73 minutes of play, Boston United's Martin Button made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tristram Townsley was left in no man's land by his defense there! Louis Hawke showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iain Mansfield, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. 85 minutes into the match, Carlisle's goal looked a bit too open when Martin Button came free, but Tristram Townsley reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Iain Mansfield fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Louis Hawke having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martin Button in the 95th minute of play forced Carlisle's goalkeeper Tristram Townsley to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Boston United's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
