Kenny Camfield didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Madhead United. Michel Simões sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 32 played minutes Kettering got a freekick which was hit by Darryl Keane. In the 34th minute, Bradley Rogers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Denis Barber didn't quite understand what happened when in the 36 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. When Denis Barber came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Madhead United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Denis Barber couldn't finish the play. Michel Simões received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Kenny Camfield tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The supporters of Madhead United booed when Kettering was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Peter Hunter didn't get a good kick on the ball. Michel Simões's late challenge caught a Kettering's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Michel Simões helped the player get up and apologised. After 55 played minutes Madhead United got a freekick which was hit by Michel Simões. Ivan Goodwin came out of the goal in the 57th minute to try and stop a shot by Kettering's Robbie Lawson. But to his dismay, Robbie Lawson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. After 64 minutes of play, Kettering's Orson Nightingale made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ivan Goodwin was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Noel Wedlock had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zack Waller sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 75 minutes into the match, Kettering's goal looked a bit too open when Michel Simões came free, but Kenny Camfield reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Kettering getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Orson Nightingale hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Denis Barber managed to get in a good position for a shot. Madhead United's supporters rose to their feet, but Denis Barber was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kenny Camfield breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 99th minute, Madhead United's Michel Simões dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. For all the effort they put into the match, the Madhead United players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Kettering.
