Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Jack Paget started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. 4 minutes into the match, West Rainton City's Benji Lynam sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Don Stead narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 9 minutes, Jeff Hardwick mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Down Grange Albion and the West Rainton City players grew even worse after the yellow card. Jeff Hardwick hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, West Rainton City's Vic Bolton got a free kick in the 11th minute. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind Down Grange Albion's goalkeeper Don Stead, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 25th minute Jack Paget shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Victor Owen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benji Lynam received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Don Stead tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 42nd minute, Giles Woodhead got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 44th minute, but Don Stead got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Down Grange Albion hanging dry this time. With a little luck, Down Grange Albion's Don Stead got control of the ball when Benji Lynam tried to sneak it across the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Giles Woodhead to strike the kick off in the second half. Down Grange Albion's Don Stead played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benji Lynam in the 59th minute of play. Jack Paget fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Victor Owen having to interfere. Victor Owen made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Jasper Hird sent off a good shot on target. Benji Lynam fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Don Stead having to interfere. Giles Woodhead sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 78th minute, Benji Lynam got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Giles Woodhead in the 80th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Don Stead saved Down Grange Albion from getting behind. Benji Lynam struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Don Stead didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for West Rainton City. Giles Woodhead received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Don Stead tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 93 minutes into the match, West Rainton City's goal looked a bit too open when Jack Paget came free, but Victor Owen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. West Rainton City had won after a very even match.
