Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Simon Revell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sid Baldwin in the 3rd minute of the match. After some careless play in the Grimsby FC defense, Dave Wrigley kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Simon Revell. The Grimsby FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Simon Revell should have stopped the shot. The audience was convinced that Dave Wrigley's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Simon Revell was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. Simon Revell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dave Wrigley in the 15th minute of play. If Dave Wrigley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Buster Way fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Simon Revell having to interfere. Simon Revell took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ronny Harrington, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Sid Baldwin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sid Baldwin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Simon Revell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sid Baldwin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Simon Revell having to interfere. Sid Baldwin might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Simon Revell. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sid Baldwin ran back to his position shaking his head. After the first half Chippenham FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dave Wrigley was the one to do the kick off. Luke Vine fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Craig Boyce having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Grimsby FC's Vinnie Cryan got a free kick in the 54th minute. After 56 minutes, Sid Baldwin made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Grimsby FC's Simon Revell tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 58th match minute, Grimsby FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luke Vine to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice moves Sid Baldwin could shoot a difficult shot in the 61st minute, which Simon Revell however easily saved by the left post. After having played for 62 minutes, Dave Wrigley managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chippenham FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dave Wrigley was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Neil Pope kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Robert Nevin charged in rather forcefully in the 65th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Robert Nevin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Chippenham FC getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Robert Nevin hit a great ball. In the 67th match minute, Grimsby FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vinnie Cryan to maneuver through the defense. Sid Baldwins short, quick shot in the 68thth minute got Simon Revell to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 72nd minute, Luke Vine got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Craig Boyce came out of the goal in the 73rd minute to try and stop a shot by Grimsby FC's Luke Vine. But to his dismay, Luke Vine quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Bryan Higson charged in rather forcefully in the 77th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bryan Higson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Chippenham FC's Rio Littlechild couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 78th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Grimsby FC. Dave Wrigley's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Simon Revell read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. In the 86th minute, Bryan Higson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sid Baldwin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Simon Revell having to interfere. Sid Baldwin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Chippenham FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Chippenham FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
