Dominic Harrad started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 3rd minute Dominic Harrad shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Simon Beswetherick saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 6th match minute, Worksop City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joel Black to maneuver through the defense. Martyn Jones received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Ruben Cousens tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ged Dennison in the 13th minute of play forced Birmingham City's goalkeeper Simon Beswetherick to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 15th minute, Harry Moorhouse left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Worksop City fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. The supporters of Birmingham City booed when Worksop City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Harry Moorhouse didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 20th minute, Leigh Tubbs hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Simon Beswetherick made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ged Dennison in the 22nd minute of play. 25 minutes into the match, Birmingham City's goal looked a bit too open when Ged Dennison came free, but Simon Beswetherick reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nath Baldwin lost his temper 27 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After having played for 29 minutes, Joel Black managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Worksop City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joel Black was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 36th minute of the match, Russell Marriot got a very nice opportunity to score, but Ruben Cousens was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 38 minutes into the match, Worksop City's goalkeeper Ruben Cousens had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Russell Marriot. Simon Beswetherick showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aaron Cornforth, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Birmingham City's Simon Beswetherick played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Harry Moorhouse in the 47th minute of play. Simon Beswetherick made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Harry Moorhouse in the 48th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Russell Marriot made a kick off. Simon Beswetherick showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dominic Harrad, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. After 62 played minutes Birmingham City got a freekick which was hit by Leigh Tubbs. In the 64th minute, Ged Dennison made a precise shot to the right of Simon Beswetherick. Birmingham City's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. A collision led to Birmingham City getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Jeremy Summers hit a great ball. After 69 played minutes Worksop City got a freekick which was hit by Dominic Harrad. Birmingham City's Simon Beswetherick played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dominic Harrad in the 71st minute of play. Harry Moorhouse received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Simon Beswetherick came out and tried to block the shot, but Harry Moorhouse slotted it home off the left post making it 0-4 in the 76th minute. If Ged Dennison had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Fitz Hayles's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Simon Beswetherick was relentless in the 83rd minute of the game. 83 minutes into the game, Howard Penn was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Birmingham City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Worksop City the free kick. In the 84th minute, Howard Penn hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Simon Beswetherick came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by Worksop City's Ged Dennison. But to his dismay, Ged Dennison quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. Simon Beswetherick was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Dominic Harrad showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-6 in the 95 minute of play.
