Frank Pickard sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Leyland's Will Barnfield managed to work through Bebington City's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Will Barnfield dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Stephen Bator made a fantastic save in the 11th minute, when Louie Sutherland sent off a good shot on target. Bebington City's Ray Doyle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Will Barnfield in the 15th minute of play. Hayden Hubbard struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Stephen Bator didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bebington City. The long shot by Seb Aspinall in the 21st minute really tested Stephen Bator's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. 26 minutes into the match, Bebington City's goal looked a bit too open when Frank Pickard came free, but Ray Doyle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Peter Philpott during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 33 minutes into the match, Leyland's goal looked a bit too open when Peter Philpott came free, but Stephen Bator reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Bebington City's zone, Will Barnfield stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ray Doyle came out of the goal and Will Barnfield tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Frank Pickard had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 49th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Peter Philpott was the one to do the kick off. In the 59th minute, Peter Philpott ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Stephen Bator was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Trevor Marshall hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. Will Barnfield struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Ray Doyle didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Leyland. Will Barnfield charged in rather forcefully in the 63rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Will Barnfield the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 63rd minute, Will Barnfield hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tony Hunter's late challenge caught a Leyland's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 86thth minute of the game Louie Sutherland who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Leyland's Stephen Bator was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The attack was good, but when Peter Philpott in the 89th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Will Barnfield in the 94th minute of play forced Bebington City's goalkeeper Ray Doyle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bryan Postolan's late challenge caught a Leyland's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bryan Postolan helped the player get up and apologised. In the 96th minute, Bryan Postolan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Frank Pickards short, quick shot in the 97thth minute got Ray Doyle to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 98 minutes into the match, Leyland's goal looked a bit too open when Louie Sutherland came free, but Stephen Bator reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Leyland eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
