Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Jasper Doughty struck a weak shot in the 4th minute. Stephen Bator didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Malmesbury. With a little luck, Leyland's Stephen Bator got control of the ball when Steve Pope tried to sneak it across the goal line. Brendon Topham took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Frank Pickard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Will Barnfield managed to get in a good position for a shot. Leyland's supporters rose to their feet, but Will Barnfield was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Brendon Topham breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Malmesbury's Vince Fenwick got a free kick in the 34th minute. Frank Pickard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Brendon Topham tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vince Fenwick hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. When Will Barnfield came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Leyland fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Will Barnfield couldn't finish the play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Vince Fenwick stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Will Barnfield had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Malmesbury's zone, Frank Pickard stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Brendon Topham came out of the goal and Frank Pickard tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 65 minutes into the match, Malmesbury's goal looked a bit too open when Will Barnfield came free, but Brendon Topham reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 67 played minutes Leyland got a freekick which was hit by Frank Pickard. Frank Pickard recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jasper Doughty recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. The Leyland players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
