After 3 played minutes Dave Eglington rounded Aldershot City's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. If Dave Eglington had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dave Eglington in the 11th minute of play forced Aldershot City's goalkeeper Perry Maylett to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Stew Booth fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mick Ring having to interfere. Dave Eglington sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 19 minutes into the match, Binsted's Dave Eglington sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Perry Maylett narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stew Booth in the 20th minute of play forced Binsted's goalkeeper Mick Ring to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dave Eglington in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Perry Maylett saved Aldershot City from getting behind. Mick Ring showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kev Floyd, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. In the 29th minute, Dave Eglington reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Perry Maylett. The goal made the score 2-0. A hard shot 41 in the game by Carl Bartram from a close distance when the talented Perry Maylett managed to make a qualified save. Aldershot City's players were relieved. Stew Booth received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Mick Ring tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Stew Booth stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jay Workman kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. Kev Floyd in the 53rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Mick Ring, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Dave Eglington sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dave Eglington fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Perry Maylett having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Aldershot City's zone, Carl Bartram stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Perry Maylett came out of the goal and Carl Bartram tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Binsted getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Olly Hill hit a great ball. Stew Booth recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 75 minutes into the match, Aldershot City's goal looked a bit too open when Dave Eglington came free, but Perry Maylett reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Perry Maylett stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Carl Bartram's shot from short distance in the 77th minute. Dave Eglington sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Binsted's Jay Workman got a free kick in the 85th minute. Mick Ring made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stew Booth in the 86th minute of play. Mick Ring made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Kev Floyd sent off a good shot on target. Kev Floyd charged in rather forcefully in the 95th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kev Floyd the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 95th match minute, Aldershot City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kev Floyd to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Binsted had won after a very even match.
