Victor Hamilton didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Felix Bates went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. After having played for 41 minutes, Felix Bates managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Heckmondwike's supporters crossed their fingers, but Felix Bates was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Vernon Harkin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ronan Bradbury read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. In the 47th match minute, Heckmondwike was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Keiran Younger to maneuver through the defense. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Grant Hind stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Abraham Fry got free with Victor Hamilton in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 54 minutes of play, Heckmondwike's Abraham Fry made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Victor Hamilton was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ronan Bradbury made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Philip Shotton in the 76th minute of play. In the 78th minute Stockbridge were awarded a corner. Roy Carsley went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Stockbridge's Roy Carsley to fire away a dangerous shot which Ronan Bradbury despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. When Dane Ainge fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Stockbridge's protests and gave Dane Ainge a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 81st minute of the game. One of Stockbridge:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Heckmondwike:s goal. Thomas Gerrard walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. The audience held their breath when Thomas Gerrard in the 87th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Victor Hamilton's left hand side. In the 90th minute, Keiran Younger reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Victor Hamilton. The goal made the score 1-4. A collision led to Stockbridge getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Philip Shotton hit a great ball. Keiran Younger could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 96th minute of the match, but Victor Hamilton made a huge save. Heckmondwike played a much better game than Stockbridge and deserved their victory. The Stockbridge players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
