If Roy Horner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Vern Pearce had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Roy Horner's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Phillip Findley was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. Roy Horner sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Hayling Island AFC booed when Reekies Wee Laddies was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eddy Lobb didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Reekies Wee Laddies's zone, Vern Pearce stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Phillip Findley came out of the goal and Vern Pearce tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 18 minutes, Roy Horner made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Reekies Wee Laddies's Phillip Findley tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 22nd minute, Gaz Brindley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 25th minute, Oliver Vine ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Phillip Findley was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Vern Pearce struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Phillip Findley didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hayling Island AFC. Phillip Findley took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roy Horner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Simeon Pettifer charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Simeon Pettifer the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Reekies Wee Laddies's Simeon Pettifer got a free kick in the 30th minute. Phillip Findley took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vern Pearce, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Phillip Findley came out of the goal in the 33rd minute to try and stop a shot by Hayling Island AFC's Oliver Vine. But to his dismay, Oliver Vine quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. After 35th play minutes Vern Pearce shot 0-4, a short shot which went by Phillip Findley and just under the crossbar into goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Niall Lomas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hayling Island AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Niall Lomas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Phillip Findley breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vern Pearce in the 40th minute of play forced Reekies Wee Laddies's goalkeeper Phillip Findley to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roy Horner recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Gaz Brindley fell near the penalty area in the 48th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Reekies Wee Laddies's protests and gave Gaz Brindley a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 47th minute of the game. One of Reekies Wee Laddies:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Hayling Island AFC:s goal. Jerome Barron shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Eddy Lobb to make the kick off. When Oliver Vine came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Hayling Island AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Oliver Vine couldn't finish the play. Oliver Vine could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Phillip Findley made a huge save. Niall Lomas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eddy Lobb kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. If Vern Pearce had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 70th minute, Oliver Vine reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Phillip Findley. The goal made the score 0-5. Kirk Baldwin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Phillip Findley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vern Pearce in the 90th minute of play. In the 91st minute the ball was on its way in behind Reekies Wee Laddies's goalkeeper Phillip Findley, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 95 minutes into the match, Kirk Baldwin notched a goal, 0-6, to the right of Reekies Wee Laddies's Phillip Findley. Phillip Findley was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 99 minutes into the game, Hayling Island AFC's Niall Lomas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Phillip Findley made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-7.
