Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) With his leg Ashley Griffin managed to avoid a goal in the 3rdth minute, when Ely's Sean Paine fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 5th minute Nathanial Probert shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ashley Griffin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 9 minutes into the match, Ely's goal looked a bit too open when Leigh Parkin came free, but Dylan Farrell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 10 minutes, Matty Stonebridge mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ely and the Colne City players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Ely getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Matty Stonebridge hit a great ball. In the 13th minute, Nathanial Probert fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Ashley Griffin, passed just outside the right post. Will Bower took the ball and in the 18 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dylan Farrell. Dylan Farrell dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 25th minute Nathanial Probert shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ashley Griffin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 30 minutes into the match, Ely's goal looked a bit too open when Leigh Parkin came free, but Dylan Farrell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Max Shilton's late challenge caught a Ely's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Max Shilton helped the player get up and apologised. Will Bower sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Ely booed when Colne City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Max Shilton didn't get a good kick on the ball. The long shot by Giles Wilson in the 47th minute really tested Ashley Griffin's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nathanial Probert to strike the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Colne City's goal looked a bit too open when Matty Stonebridge came free, but Ashley Griffin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ashley Griffin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nathanial Probert, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. After a rather tough play, Colne City's Silvester Guest got a free kick in the 53rd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Colne City's zone, Nathanial Probert stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ashley Griffin came out of the goal and Nathanial Probert tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nathanial Probert in the 60th minute of play forced Colne City's goalkeeper Ashley Griffin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Will Bower fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dylan Farrell having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Colne City's Perry Jepson got a free kick in the 71st minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Sean Paine managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ely's supporters rose to their feet, but Sean Paine was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ashley Griffin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nathanial Probert's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ashley Griffin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. Giles Wilson was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 79th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 82nd minute Nathanial Probert shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ashley Griffin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 84 minutes into the game, Nathanial Probert cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Ashley Griffin was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nathanial Probert in the 94th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ashley Griffin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ashley Griffin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sean Paine in the 96th minute of play.
