Todmorden City's James Sutton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adrian Leslie in the 8th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sebastien Mansell in the 20th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lenny Bilham saved Everton from getting behind. After 23 played minutes, Everton's Leon Bannister shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper James Sutton came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Everton reached it. James Sutton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Thom Newlyn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. James Sutton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adrian Leslie in the 27th minute of the match. Sebastien Mansell recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Sebastien Mansell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 35 minutes in the game, George Blair fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Lenny Bilham having to interfere. After 38 minutes, Dave Boulding mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Todmorden City and the Everton players grew even worse after the yellow card. Adrian Leslie recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sebastien Mansell recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Jacob Bowen fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Everton's protests and gave Jacob Bowen a yellow card for diving instead. In the 46th match minute, Everton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jacob Bowen to maneuver through the defense. In the 47th minute Sebastien Mansell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lenny Bilham saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

In the 54th minute, Ozzy Varley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 55th minute of the match Byron Little shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Lenny Bilham showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. George Blair struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Lenny Bilham didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Todmorden City. Sebastien Mansell kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Everton's Thom Newlyn suffered a sore thigh after 60 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Martin Cotterill during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 60th minute, one of Todmorden City:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Todmorden City. In the 63rd minute, Everton got a penalty, and Darren Sears placed the ball unsaveable into goal, by the right post. After 65 minutes of play Todmorden City's Dave Boulding was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Dave Boulding kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. If George Blair had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Everton booed when Todmorden City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dom Potts didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lenny Bilham showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from George Blair, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Todmorden City's Sebastien Mansell got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Lenny Bilham didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Todmorden City. Although Todmorden City had been in control for most of the match, Everton still came away with the win.
