Lance Strickland showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Malcolm Dodgson in the 4th minute of the match. A collision led to Hayle getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. David Furlong hit a great ball. If Barrie Boxall had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Barrie Boxall could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Phil Brewer made a huge save. An unexpected shot in the 21st minute by Barrie Boxall got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In a very dangerous position, a player in Baston fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 23rd minute. Penalty! Travis Stone shot the penalty kick right outside the post. 27 minutes into the match, Hayle's goal looked a bit too open when Silvester Nightingale came free, but Phil Brewer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Silvester Nightingale sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Barrie Boxall got free with Phil Brewer in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Lance Strickland showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Malcolm Dodgson in the 39th minute of the match. Phil Brewer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silvester Nightingale in the 40th minute of play. 40 minutes into the game, Baston's Silvester Nightingale nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Phil Brewer made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Lance Strickland made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Malcolm Dodgson in the 46th minute of play. In the 47th minute Silvester Nightingale shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Phil Brewer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Silvester Nightingale stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 57 minutes into the game, Barrie Boxall cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Phil Brewer was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Barrie Boxall fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phil Brewer having to interfere. Baston's Lance Strickland played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Malcolm Dodgson in the 66th minute of play. Phil Brewer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Barrie Boxall in the 68th minute of play. Phil Brewer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silvester Nightingale, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jeremy Radcliffe kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. In the 74th minute, Trevor Legzdins got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 76 minutes into the match, Baston's goal looked a bit too open when Malcolm Dodgson came free, but Lance Strickland reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Baston's Lance Strickland played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Malcolm Dodgson in the 78th minute of play. Lance Strickland made a fantastic save in the 80th minute, when Rex Cryan sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, Baston's Lance Strickland got control of the ball when Rex Cryan tried to sneak it across the goal line. Baston's Lewis Warner got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Baston fans cheered their team off the field, for while Hayle had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
